THE STORY
Do you dare to face the person you could have become?
Konekt is an atmospheric, tension filled sci fi drama that follows the story of an ordinary woman who has reached an impasse in her life and becomes involved with a mysterious, cutting edge procedure. At its core is the Konektahedron, a unique VR headset capable of reading and digitizing human memories, then recreating them as an explorable virtual world. In this space, the past can be relived, new choices can be made, and every change transforms the user as well.
As the protagonist descends deeper into this world, she realizes that Konekt is not merely a technology promising personal healing, but a secret global movement that, by shaping the human mind, seeks to transform the reality of both its participants and humanity as a whole.
The industrial headquarters of Konekt is the center for mapping and reshaping the mind, where advanced technology and the Central Brain, a continuously learning artificial intelligence, work to construct a collective map of consciousness from participants’ memories. The movement’s goal is to use this knowledge to subtly and almost imperceptibly guide people toward a new way of thinking that could fundamentally change the nature of human relationships and how reality itself is perceived.
This story is both personal and universal, as within each of us lie memories and secrets that shape who we are, whether we are aware of them or not. The film invites viewers to confront their own inner world and ask the question: Who am I if my past is no longer mine, and what remains within me – my innermost self, my true identity?
The tone and atmosphere of Konekt are inspired by works such as The Matrix, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and Black Mirror, yet it presents an entirely original and inventive story to its audience.
As an independent production, it is being made for festivals and cinemas, starring Sára Schmidt, Marina Gera (International Emmy Award, Jászai Mari Award), Viktória Staub (Golden Medal Award), Toma Hrisztov, and Odett Elza Négyesi.
This is not just a film but a thought provoking journey that questions what truly makes us who we are, and whether it is worth rewriting our own story.
If you believe that cinema can inspire change, join the Konekt community and become part of the story.
THE DIRECTOR'S VISION
For me, KONEKT is a story about how a person confronts their own past and learns to reclaim their identity in a world that constantly seeks to reshape it. I have always been interested in what happens when someone realizes they cannot escape their memories – they can only learn how to live with them.
Eszter’s journey feels deeply personal to me, because in my own life I have experienced what it is like when growth requires first dismantling the walls that survival once built. The film is about this inner journey, about the moment when a person stops running and instead immerses themselves in their own story.
For me, the central message is that freedom is not born from erasing the past, but from learning to process it, reinterpret it, and ultimately claim ownership of it. In the world of KONEKT, this becomes visible through a futuristic technological framework: the VR space is not an escape, but a reflective surface where every decision and every wound becomes part of the soul’s canvas.
What makes my approach distinctive is the fusion of intimate human drama with high-concept science fiction. I imagine the film as an emotionally raw yet visually hypnotic experience, where the character’s internal process is just as important as the world-building itself. Technology is not the essence – the human being is, and the moment when they finally find the courage to confront themselves.

RELEVANCE
Why now?
MARKET TRENDS
Audiences worldwide are increasingly drawn to emotionally high-stakes, character-driven stories with psychological depth (e.g., Severance, Black Mirror, The Whale). Both streaming platforms and theatrical markets show strong demand for mid-cult films that are intellectually engaging while remaining accessible to broader audiences. KONEKT positions itself within this market space: visually striking yet deeply human, built around timely and relevant themes.
SOCIAL RELEVANCE
The world is experiencing a crisis of personal identity: people are finding it increasingly difficult to locate their place amid constant pressure, burnout, and digital overload. Topics such as mental health, self-awareness, and trauma processing are more prominent today than ever before. KONEKT reflects this collective search through a visually powerful and dramatic story.

HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL RELEVANCE
Modern spiritual and self-development movements bring both hope and uncertainty: many people turn to them for guidance while the way we think about our inner world is undergoing a radical transformation. The film serves as a cultural imprint of an era in which speaking about “inner work” is no longer taboo, but a trend-shaping force.

WHY PRODUCE IT NOW?
Because the film’s central question – “Who am I really, and how much of myself do I allow others to define?” – is one of the most pressing social dilemmas of our time. KONEKT explores themes that are simultaneously personal and universal, creating strong resonance within today’s cultural landscape: identity, healing, trauma, self-awareness, freedom, and the journey toward becoming a leader.
POSITIONING

MARKET POSITIONING
A mid-cult, character-driven sci-fi drama with thriller elements: festival-ready while remaining emotionally accessible to a wider audience.
WHY WILL AUDIENCES CONNECT WITH IT?
Because the film addresses universal questions – “Which painful memory would you change?” – and, through Eszter’s character, offers a personal and emotionally relatable inner journey.
EMOTIONAL AND THEMATIC APPEAL
The film’s core strength lies in its exploration of individual trauma processing, social alienation, and the promise embodied by the Konekt movement. The audience is ultimately confronted with their own questions of identity.

A taste of the musical world of KONEKT
Grivant Bence’s “Shadows of Regret” is more than just a soundtrack. It creates an independent atmosphere that deeply resonates with the soul of the film. The delicately shimmering string arrangements and floating electronic textures evoke Eszter’s inner world: fragility and tension, slow transformation and quiet rebellion.
The music builds gradually. As Eszter sinks deeper into the layers of consciousness, the sound thickens around her, forming a soundscape of remembering and reprogramming. It is refined, minimalist, and profoundly human, just like the story it was composed for. This excerpt offers only a glimpse into the musical world that accompanies Eszter throughout the film, gently guiding the viewer along the edge of memory and illusion, reality and transformation.
